Photography & art

Manuel Millares was a spanish painter, born in Gran Canaria in 1926. He studied laws but soon he would give up to art, learning to paint in an autodiact way. Not only he painted with a surreal tone but he created"collages " in his paintings with a very modern style. Some abstrac artwork with mixed tecniques:

Homunculus

His artwork is dived in two stages, in the second one, from the late 50's to his death in 1972, he started to add materials like fabric, wood or burlap to his paintings. The use of that last material ("arpillera" in the picture) changed Millares way of art.

He is also famous for his walls like the one below.

I was walking down a steet when a saw contruction zone with this wall and it inspired me to write about Manuel Millares. Inspiration can be anywhere.
